Starting in Fall 2020, the Kern group will be collaborating with researchers from Duke University, Princeton University, Dartmouth College, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on a new project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s ARPA-E program. The project, lead by Dalia Patino-Echeverri at Duke, will focus on using probabilistic hydro-meteorological data to better schedule power plants and allocated operating reserves in power systems dominated by variable renewable energy.
